Weight loss during menopause
Weight loss during menopause has been linked directly to bone loss density. They have found that even women on hormone replacement therapy (HRT) still have significant bone density loss.
Because weight loss leads to bone density loss, it can become quite worrisome because during menopause, the bone mineral density continues to degenerate.
Women who take HRT find that their bone density loss is significantly lower than those not taking the supplements.
Most of the studies of weight loss during menopause have been learning to determine ways in which a woman and lose weight during this time. Because of the decreased hormone levels, stress, mood swings, and the like, more women gain weight during this time and find it increasingly difficult to lose.
During Menopause, and post menopause, women find themselves gaining an unexplainable amount of weight. Diets, and exercise programs that they once found working for their bodies, no longer work. Some women even believe that the extra ten to twenty pounds is a part of being middle age, but there are ways to nutritiously lose that weight, even during menopause.
Hormone imbalance is the prime root of weight gain, along with the other symptoms of menopause, and post menopause. By getting your hormones in balance with HRT and other natural remedies such as soy-rich foods, flax, and fish, a woman can go back to some of those old techniques used to lose those extra pounds.
The reason the body gains weight and is so hard to lose is because fat cells and your hormones are part of a system wide network that controls your appetite, metabolism, heat regulation, digestion, and detoxification. Any disturbance in the balance of this system can cause weight gain, along with cravings.
Since there is a direct link between insulin, metabolism, and body fat, many women went after the low fat, high carbohydrate diet. This caused their bodies to create a condition known as insulin resistance. When you body goes into this state, every calorie taken into the body is turned into fat. This results in starvation of the cell, even though your are dieting.
Another link during post menopause is stress and body fat. Stress hormones such as, cortisol blocks weight loss. This phenomenon is sometimes referred to as, “The famine effect”. Your body interprets the stress as famine, thus causing it to hold on to all the calories and turns them into fat.
The only way to cure both bone density loss, and weight gain during post menopausal years is to first get your body in balance. Only a physician can determine if you are experiencing bond density loss, and prescribe those hormone replacement supplements for you to get your body back in balance. Once this is done, your body will automatically go back to doing what it already knows how to do. You will be able to eat those foods, using diet and exercise, and the weight will come off just as it did in younger years. As long as there is unbalance in the body, it will continue to turn calories into fat, making it more and more difficult to lose the extra weight.
